Describe your relationship with words, Is poetry a vehicle for you to manifest beyond creative and artistic needs?
Poetry sure is a vehicle to reach for my spiritual intellect and to connect with the Universe to empower my higher self in every stage of transcending who I am and to become by exchanging energy.
Describe como te relacionas con las palabras. Es la poesía un vehículo para manifestar mas allá de la creatividad y las necesidades artísticas?
La poesía es definitivamente un vehículo útil para alcanzar mi intelecto espiritual y poder tanto conectar con el universo y empoderar mi yo superior a todo nivel de trascendencia mediante el intercambio de energía.
How does diasporic experiences shape your vision as an artist?
It has shaped me in the way I float and accelerate through this journey on earth. It deepens my existence. It opens doors in the back of my mind which expands my evolving vision. I represent life experiences in my work and use it as a stepping stone to discover more of what there is to know. It's a source of inspiration.
Como es que las experiencias diaspóricas le dan forma tu visión como artista?
Le han dado forma en la manera en que navego por este viaje en la tierra. Profundiza mi existencia. Abre puertas detrás de mi mente lo cual expande mi visión en evolución. Represento experiencias de vida en mi trabajo y las utilizo como escalón para descubrir mas de lo necesario. Es una fuente de inspiración.

As a Black woman in the Netherlands, what is your experience in regards white hegemonic culture? Have you been able to create community and spaces with other people of color?
Being a black woman in the Netherlands is dealing with white ignorance that's internationally acknowledged/experienced by the black community. It means you have to make way over and over again. It means you have to gather up with other beautiful black people from time to time to empower and create space for your greatness to share light and to become visible, sometimes it is a radical act. Most of the time we are like honey drippin into the cracks of Dutch Society. Still we are in search of each other and here and there even found each other. So now we are in the time of glueing up to become one black spot in this white minded society.
Como mujer Negra en los países bajos, cual es tu experiencia con respecto a la cultura blanca hegemónica? Has logrado crear lazos comunitarios y encontrar espacios de convivencia con otra gente de color?
Ser una mujer Negra en los países bajos significa lidiar con la ignorancia blanca, internacionalmente conocida y sufrida por la comunidad Negra. Significa que tienes que forjar tu camino una y otra vez. Significa que tienes que reunirte con tu gente bella de vez en cuando para generar empoderamiento y darle espacio a tu grandeza, compartiendo tu luz para visibilizarnos, lo cual en ocasiones se convierte en un acto radical.
Muchas ocasiones somos como gotas de miel que se filtran por las grietas de la sociedad Holandesa. Seguimos en la búsqueda del uno al otro y ocasionalmente nos encontramos. Ahora nos encontramos en el proceso de convertirnos en un punto negro de referencia en esta sociedad de mente blanca.
When talking about cultural appropriation and commodification, Spoken Word poetry has been a cultural expression that is often co-opted by white liberalism, which tends to depoliticize and deracialize historically Black and Brown narratives. How do you navigate through those processes?
I tend to look for those narratives too. It is heavy soul searching. It is representing times I haven't lived still i am experiencing it. So I have to translate it and process it parallel to the process of shaping it by writing what needs to be told in between what I would like to share.
Cuando hablamos de apropiación cultural y comodificación, el Spoken Word ha sido una expresión cultural constantemente co-optada por el liberalismo blanco, lo cual tiende a despolitizar y desracializar históricamente narrativas Black and Brown. Cómo navegas esos procesos?
Trato de abordar esas narrativas también. Es una búsqueda emocional pesada. Se trata de una representación de momentos que aunque no los he vivido, los he sentido por la experiencia. Tengo que hacer un proceso paralelo en el que doy forma a mi escritura en base a lo que necesita decirse y lo que me gustaría compartir públicamente.
What projects are you working on?
I am currently working on Poetronic. A permanent music project with DJ / Producer Ci Seryne to re-introduce poetronica. Next to it I am ready to finish off my first book; a compilation of short poems and finishing off the screenings of my short poetry film "The thing is”.
En que proyectos estas trabajando?
Actualmente estoy trabajando en Poetronic, el cual es un proyecto musical permanente con la DJ / Productora Ci Seryne el cual reintroduce la poetronica. Además, estoy lista para finalizar mi primer libro el cual es una compilación de poemas cortos. Además, estoy concluyendo una serie de proyecciones de mi short film poético llamado “The thing is”.
